A Closer Look at the Problem |
In the diagram above a force is generated when the forward canard set is deflected to an angle of attack. The force is applied in the horizontal plane at the canard center of pressure. Since we have a spinning projectile we will use the flight control definition to apply the forces only in the yaw plane. This assumes a guidance and control system that can oscillate the various canards at specific times to generate this effect.
When the body lateral injection force is on, a yawing moment about the mass center is also induced due to the fact that the applied force is offset from the mass center by the distance DX.
