40MM HET_L70 is a spin stabilized projectile. The tutorial will now go through the exercise of determining where to place yaw cards for this projectile. To determine the spacing required for the 40mm HET_L70 open this projectile repeat the steps in the previous topic for finding the spacing for 105M735Cartridge_start.pr3. Note: The yaw period given for spin stabilized projectile in the Stability Output is the fast cycle period.

Divide the yaw period by the number of cards desired for the first fast cycle. (8 in this case)

24.5 / 8 = 3.1m

Place Yaw Cards every 3.1 meters for the first set of yaw cards. To determine the placement of the next set of yaw cards (5 for this example) add a yaw period. Then divide the yaw period by the number of cards to determine the spacing.

24.5 + 24.5 = 49m

24.5 / 5 = 4.9m

Therefore the next set of 6 yaw cards will be placed 49 m downrange of the 1st Yaw Card at a spacing of 4.9 meters. Repeat this procedure for placing the last set of yaw cards.
