Model Generation With User Specified Mode |
The User Specified mode is selected from the list box in the upper right corner of the window as shown below. Notice that when you select this option two additional input boxes are displayed. These give the user more control over the placement of nodes.
"Maximum Spacing" controls the spacing of the nodes. CASAS will not necessarily use this value for the spacing as it is also working to insure that nodes are placed at all transition points in the geometric model. The "Node Removal Tolerance" eliminates any nodes spaced closer together than this value. You can experiment with different values for these parameters and see their effect on the model. I have entered a value for Maximum Node Spacing that will result in a coarser mesh than we generated with the default option. This might be useful to speed up calculation time for preliminary runs on a new design.
I'm also going to toggle the option to display labels on the model. Click the "Generate Model" button to see the results of your selections
Node numbers appear along the centerline of the round while ring element numbers are displayed along the bottom of the plot.
