Understanding the Projectile Yaw Motion |
In this section of the Yaw Card Tutorial, the user will see examples of statically and gyroscopically stabilized projectile downrange yawing motion.
As a projectile travels downrange, it exhibits angular motion which is typically largest at launch and damps as it travels downrange (if the projectile is stable). This motion takes place in the Pitch and Yaw planes (Vertical and Horizontal). The following two tutorial sections include plots to illustrate this down range motion. Notice that the motion of the spin stabilized projectiles is much more complex.
