CASAS is a specialized finite element analysis tool designed to allow rapid analysis of the complex interaction between a cartridge case and chamber.

Highlights include:

• An automated mesh generator to generate a finite element model of the cartridge case using ring elements.
• A thermal analysis module to determine the average cartridge case temperature at each element over time.
• An elastic/plastic structural analysis engine using temperature dependent material properties.
• Full output capability.
• Simple capability for performing sensitivity analyses.

The Cartridge Case-Chamber Analysis screen is shown below. The tabs at the top of the window allow access to the input and output windows.
