The Data Families Menu is used to

• Add a new data family. To add a family all you need to enter is a name
• Delete an existing data family. To delete a family you first select the family in the left window and then choose delete from the data families menu.

Earlier it was mentioned that each family's structural information is stored in a separate .AND file. It is a user decision how to group the data. Any analysis can read or write data from any family. Generally it is easiest to keep track of if you have all the unique data for an analysis in its own family.
