This page discusses the details of the "Wagon Wheel" Grain geometry in the Rocket Motor Simulation Module.
A close-up of a section of the Wagon Wheel grain geometry is shown in the following figure.
The following dimensions required for input are shown:
- DO is the grain outside diameter, the exterior diameter of the rocket motor grain.
- X1 is the thickness of the grain wall of the rocket motor grain.
- D2 is the radius at the base of the wagon wheel "spoke" at the interior diameter section of the grain.
- X0 is the thickness of the wagon Wheel "spoke" of the wagon wheel grain segment.
- D3 is the radius of the tip of the star segment.
- D4 is the distance from the top of the spoke tip radius to the center of the grain.
- AL2 is the offset distance of the spoke tip taper from the center of the line of symmetry between the lobes of the grain.
