BALANS is a relatively complex analysis and an extensive compilation of data is required for a
meaningful result. The following is a summary of the required input data.
- A PRODAS *.pr3 file (or drawings from which the PRODAS models can be built) including:
- Geometric models of the projectile and barrel. Projectile components and barrel
components must be properly identified by their "Physical Function".
- The interior ballistics analysis must be completed to produce base pressure.
- The Aerodynamic Coefficients must be calculated for Statistical Runs Only.
- Recoil stiffness
- Stiffness of the projectile / bore interface
- Material properties for the projectile and tube including:
- Density
- Modulus of Elasticity
- Poisson's Ratio
- Bore centerline profile (optional)
- Bore diametric variation versus length (optional)
- Projectile / Bore interface tolerances
- Projectile dispersion sensitivity factors (Internally calculated for Statistical Runs Only)
These input data requirements will be discussed in more detail in the BALANS example.
