BALANS is a relatively complex analysis and an extensive compilation of data is required for a meaningful result. The following is a summary of the required input data.

• A PRODAS *.pr3 file (or drawings from which the PRODAS models can be built) including:
  • Geometric models of the projectile and barrel. Projectile components and barrel components must be properly identified by their "Physical Function".
  • The interior ballistics analysis must be completed to produce base pressure.
  • The Aerodynamic Coefficients must be calculated for Statistical Runs Only.
• Recoil stiffness
• Stiffness of the projectile / bore interface
• Material properties for the projectile and tube including:
  • Density
  • Modulus of Elasticity
  • Poisson's Ratio
• Bore centerline profile (optional)
• Bore diametric variation versus length (optional)
• Projectile / Bore interface tolerances
• Projectile dispersion sensitivity factors (Internally calculated for Statistical Runs Only)
