BALANS is a relatively complex analysis and an extensive compilation of data is required for a
meaningful result. The following is a summary of the required input data.
A PRODAS *.pr3 file (or drawings from which the PRODAS models can be built) including:
Geometric models of the projectile and barrel. Projectile components and barrel
components must be properly identified by their "Physical Function".
The interior ballistics analysis must be completed to produce base pressure.
The Aerodynamic Coefficients must be calculated for Statistical Runs Only.
Recoil stiffness
Stiffness of the projectile / bore interface
Material properties for the projectile and tube including:
Density
Modulus of Elasticity
Poisson's Ratio
Bore centerline profile (optional)
Bore diametric variation versus length (optional)
Projectile / Bore interface tolerances
Projectile dispersion sensitivity factors (Internally calculated for Statistical Runs Only)
These input data requirements will be discussed in more detail in the BALANS example.
