One last bit of background will be introduced before returning to our example. The goal of the Projectile Profiler Tool is to define one or more elements which are added to the currently open projectile. Understanding the general process of defining elements with the Projectile Profiler Tool will be helpful. Before an element can be defined the following must happen within the Projectile Profiler Tool. Each of these steps is done simply with a few mouse clicks.

• The projectile's centerline must be defined. All of the PRODAS elements are axis symmetric. Once the centerline is defined PRODAS simply needs two points to define an element.
• The drawing scale must be set. PRODAS has to know the scale of the drawing before it can create actual dimensions.
• A reference point is set. This is a reference distance relative to the PRODAS projectile. This is particularly valuable when the elements are being added to an existing projectile. It tells the program where to place the element. Even for a new projectile a reference point must be set. All PRODAS assemblies have a reference distance.

If a step's prerequisite has not been met it will be disabled and a reminder will be displayed as to what must be done before the step is available.
